Support Requirements for the Air Conditioner
The air conditioner wall case may be installed
flush with the inside wall or flush with the
outside wall.
The finished sides of the opening should be
structural wall members.
Lintel—
Use a lintel in brick veneer and brick and
block types of wall to support the bricks or blocks
above the opening. Do not allow the wall case to
be used in lieu of a lintel.
Flashing—
Install flashing (drip rail) as shown to
prevent water from dripping inside the wall and
down the outside of the building.
